Growalrus is an email marketing blog built on the idea of growth and dominance—just like a walrus ruling its territory. The client asked me to redesign the logo he already had. The change was only aesthetical, leaving the concept as it was. I found the initial concept of the Growalrus logotype to be the most distinct and effective in terms of originality and its clever combination of a mascot and typography—something not commonly seen among competitors. Along with refining the logotype, I developed a cohesive visual direction and designed a simple yet impactful homepage to strengthen the brand’s presence.

The use of the golden ratio corrected proportion issues and achieved the desired balance in the design. The use of a more professional and less overused typeface (Hurme Geometric Sans 4), with custom geometric adjustments, gives it a distinctive signature quality. The diagonal line symbolizing growth is used not only in the pictogram but also in the letter ‘L’ in the company name. This connection creates consistency, which can be applied across various layout situations, such as web design and print materials. The angle is derived from the geometry of the golden ratio.

For the homepage design, I built on a modern color palette of tech-blue tones, creating a sleek and professional look. To complement this, I chose Host Grotesk as the brand typeface—a modern grotesk font designed for screens. Its clean, contemporary feel not only enhances readability but also perfectly aligns with the logotype’s typography style, ensuring a cohesive and polished visual identity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the usual timeline for a project?

The timeline varies based on the project’s scope and size. Generally, creating a basic visual identity takes 4-6 weeks, while a comprehensive brand identity for larger companies can extend up to 3 months. A one-page web design, including research and wireframing, typically takes 3-6 weeks, with a similar timeframe for development in Webflow.

What's your payment policy?

The first half is paid as a deposit once we finalize the collaboration agreement. The remaining half is due upon final delivery. For projects exceeding €4,000 in total costs, I reserve the right to invoice at key milestones once the initial deposit is surpassed in project value.

What if I'm not satisfied with the outcome?

You’ll be involved throughout the entire project, with input and approval at each milestone, making dissatisfaction unlikely. However, if we can’t reach an agreement, you’ll only pay for the completed and approved portions of the project. You’ll receive all materials created so far, along with my recommendations for moving forward with a new designer—no hard feelings.

Collaboration policy

Smooth collaboration is key to a successful project. I commit to sticking to timelines and maintaining clear communication and expect the same from my clients. Missed deadlines, unresponsive communication, or delays can impact both sides, so I’ll establish timelines for key milestones, including video calls, meetings, or phase approvals. If deadlines aren’t respected without valid reasons, postponement fees may apply to both parties to ensure accountability and progress.
